Dearest Readers,

Last night, I watched the movie Lonely Hearts and it made me realize a stunning similarity between how criminals work via communication networks from 80 yrs ago and today. p.s ; Salma Hayek does an amazing job acting in her very, very, creepy role of Psycho Jealous Killer Girlfriend. Salma and her man would befriend women seeking companionship through personal ads hence the title Lonely Hearts and then rob them. However, their plan backfired as soon as the jealous green monster started to affect Selma’s better judgement, and the murders started to stack up. Before these criminals worked through newspaper ads and love letters but how is this different than online creepers today. Its just made the medium easier and now they can work in real time.

The use and tools of communication technology have always been used as a tool for crime. Since the mail, then the telephone and now the internet. I think the Internet has just made it easier. Final Thought: I would like to know how has romantic crimes such as the one present in this film increased because of the Internet? And has the escalation of technology through time also had an escalating effect on crime?

 Kindest Thoughts, Barb E

Check out a preview of the film. Ita a Gooder.
